Dr. Kendra Wheeler is an educator, collaborator, chamber musician, and advocate for diverse and historically excluded music and musicians. She is currently Assistant Professor of Saxophone at Central Washington University, a position she's held since 2021, where she teaches applied classical saxophone, music theory, and aural skills in addition to courses within the music education curriculum.

As a classical performer, she actively promotes and performs new repertoire that embraces many cultures and perspectives, as heard in her modern and diverse programming and commissioning. She has appeared at major venues and festivals in Italy, Croatia, Greece, England, and across the United States.

Wheeler’s music and identity combined with her keen awareness and understanding of the various intersections of diversity and experience make her a unique musical and pedagogical voice within the field. Her ability to create an open and inviting musical space allowing for a deep connection between her and her audience resulting in an intentional, transformative, and humanistic performance, all unique to her style.
